Balance Nest Privacy and AI Processing Notice
Balance Nest is provided by the individual identified as its seller on the Apple App Store. This notice explains what information the current app handles, why it is used, where it may be processed, and the choices available to users.
Balance Nest is a general wellness tool. It is not medical care, therapy, diagnosis, or an emergency service.
Account information
We collect first and last name, email address, password, and date of birth when an account is created. The server stores a one-way password hash rather than the password itself. We also keep session and security information needed to authenticate the user and invalidate access.
We use this information to create and secure accounts, personalize the app, apply age-dependent service rules, and respond to account or privacy requests.
Wellness and app activity information
We process mood selections, mood scores, optional written notes, AI-generated supportive responses, and check-in dates and times. The app may also keep local progress such as badges, opened resources, completed exercises, and consent choices.
This information provides private mood history, progress, and the wellness features selected by the user. It is not used for advertising or advertising profiles.
Optional voice and AI processing
Voice check-in is optional, and manual mood entry remains available. Before sending a voice check-in, the app explains the processing and asks for explicit voice and AI consent.
- The selected audio clip is sent through the Balance Nest API to OpenAI for transcription.
- The transcript is sent to OpenAI to select a mood category and create a short supportive response.
- Balance Nest saves the mood, score, and short response, but does not save the audio or transcript in its database.
Temporary server audio and the local recording are cleared after the request. The transcript is discarded when the result screen closes. OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models by default unless the API account owner opts in. Provider retention and processing remain subject to OpenAI's applicable business terms and data controls.
Optional push notifications
Balance Nest requests system notification permission only after onboarding is completed. No push token is created or associated with an account before the user allows that system prompt and authenticates. After permission is allowed and the user signs in or creates an account, Balance Nest receives an Expo push token for the installation and associates it with the signed-in account. A user who declines is not registered and can enable notifications later from the Profile toggle or a periodic in-app reminder. These reminders explain the notification categories, provide a Not now choice, and are limited by a cooldown. If system permission was previously denied, Balance Nest directs the user to device Settings rather than attempting to bypass the system decision. Turning notifications off in Profile suppresses these reminders. We store the device platform, app version, and limited delivery status needed to operate and troubleshoot notifications.
Notifications may include general reminders, announcements, or account messages. They are designed not to include mood entries, written notes, voice transcripts, or similarly sensitive wellness details. Users can disable push notifications in Profile or device settings. Signing out or successfully switching accounts removes or replaces the server association. A detected reinstall discards retained local credentials and attempts to remove the prior server association.
Optional family sharing
An adult account may send a private connection request to an existing, verified dependent account by email. The email is used to locate the intended account. A pending request shares no wellness information, and the dependent can accept or reject the request in the app.
The dependent's date of birth is used to apply the age range configured for the service. The supported configuration remains within ages 1 through 18 and may be narrowed for a particular deployment or region.
Acceptance shares only mood labels, scores, and check-in dates and times. It does not share written notes, saved supportive responses, recordings, or transcripts. Either person may revoke an accepted connection, and every history request rechecks that the relationship is active. Requests expire automatically, and family push notifications use generic wording without wellness details.
Children, minors, and parental authorization
Balance Nest is not currently distributed as an Apple Kids Category app. Only an adult account can initiate a dependent invitation. The service can be configured to make dependent accounts eligible within ages 1 through 18.
An in-app request or acceptance records a product choice, but it is not by itself legal proof of identity, guardianship, parental authority, or any verifiable parental consent required by law. A child or another person who cannot legally authorize collection and sharing may use the service only after a parent or guardian completes the authorization required in that person's jurisdiction. Availability may be restricted where the required authorization or verification process is not available.
A parent or guardian may contact us to exercise applicable access, correction, deletion, or consent-withdrawal rights for a child.
Service providers and sharing
We do not sell personal information. The app contains no advertising SDK and does not use wellness information for cross-app tracking. Limited mood summaries are shared with a connected adult only through the optional, accepted family-sharing process described above.
- Cloud hosting and database providers store information and operate the service on our behalf.
- Content delivery and security providers may process IP addresses and limited request metadata.
- A transactional email provider receives an email address and security message when needed for account email.
- OpenAI processes optional voice audio and transcripts for the purposes described above.
- Expo and the applicable device notification provider route enabled push notifications.
Providers acting on our behalf are required to use personal information only for their contracted services and to provide protections required by applicable law. Information may also be disclosed when required by law, to protect users or the service, or during a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards.
International processing
Service providers may process information in countries different from the user's country. Where required, we rely on contractual safeguards and other lawful transfer mechanisms.
Retention and deletion
- Account information, mood history, notes, and saved responses remain while the account is active.
- Voice audio and transcripts are not stored in the Balance Nest database; temporary copies are cleared as described above.
- Push installation records remain while notifications and the account are active.
- Family requests, acceptance, and revocation records remain while relevant accounts are active.
- Operational and security logs remain only as reasonably necessary under provider schedules and legal obligations.
A user may permanently delete the account from Profile. Account deletion removes the account and mood history from the active database, invalidates sessions, clears account-specific local data on that device, and deletes identifiable family records. Provider-managed backups may remain until normal backup rotation completes and are not used to recreate a deleted account.
User choices and rights
Depending on applicable law, users may request access, correction, restriction, objection, deletion, or withdrawal of consent. The app provides controls to update profile details, disable notifications, reject family requests, revoke family access, sign out, and permanently delete the account. We may verify identity or authority before acting on an account-specific request.
Security
Balance Nest uses HTTPS, password hashing, signed sessions, access controls, request limits, and log redaction. No internet or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Users should protect their passwords and contact us if they believe an account is compromised.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice when the app, providers, or legal requirements change. The current version and effective date will remain on this public page. A material change to optional voice, AI, or family-sharing scope will require an updated disclosure before the changed processing applies.
